Bernard Vogel
Water Color
This is one of my favorite still life of all time.
Bernard Vogel is a master of using the flat brush and watercolor. The result of is something that could very well be an outer-space image just as easily as a table top. It is truly ethereal, transcending and unbelievably excellent.

Marvin Franklin
Ink on Paper created on the subway.
Marvin Franklin died on those very tracks. A promising artist cut down for no apparent reason.

Marvin Franklin was a subway track worker by night, an artist by day, until he was killed in the line of duty April 29, 2007, while working the late shift. Now there's a chance to remember the man and his work. Beginning this week, the New York Transit Museum in Brooklyn displays pieces from Franklin's sketchbook. Take a look at what a close observer of the city's transit system saw every day until March 2008.
